Subject: CANCELLED BLUE & GOLD and COURT OF HONOR

Dear Scouts and Parents,

As a reminder our Cub Scout Blue & Gold banquet and Boy Scout Court of Honor celebration has been cancelled for Saturday 27 February.  I took this action in light of Mr. Stephen Stanley our Webelos Leader who suffered a stroke last weekend and is now recovering in Magee Rehabilitation hospital at 15th and Race.

We reschedule the Blue & Gold and Court of Honor to a possible date in April.  This will be a good month to do our celebration since in April 15, 1915 Scouting first came to St. Thomas.

There will be no regular Cub Scout meeting on Saturday, however Cub Scouts may bring their Pinewood Derby cars on Saturday around 2:00 p.m. to drop off to be part of a display on Sunday.

We will continue to celebrate Scout Sunday on Sunday 28 February.  Services start at 10:00 a.m.  All Scouts should be at the Church no later than 9:45 a.m. in full Class “A” uniform.

Boy Scouts are ask to come to the Church for meeting at 1500 hrs (3:00 p.m.) on Saturday to prepare for Scout Sunday.  Uniform for Saturday is Class “B” blue jeans and Scout shirt or Class “C” appropriate civilian attire.

Cub Scouts Outting February 27, 2010 @ 10:00am - UPDATE 2/22/10 11:23AM

SMALL PROBLEM - I went to pay the deposit today with Scout check and was told all Cub classes are sold out for Saturday 2/27.

However we can still attend and view George Washington Carver Exhibit plus "Inside Out" and rest of museum for $10 per Scout and $10 per parent.

I do apologize for this mishap. We were delayed getting the deposit into the museum because I am still learning the process.

I propose we STILL meet @ museum @ 10:30am and enjoy the day. We can talk about how we can come back for the Scouting Class. Additionally, Museum offers an Overnight for Cub Scouts.

Dear Scouts and Parents,

On Saturday 27 February at 5:00 p.m. we will hold our combined Blue & Gold Banquet and Court of Honor.  The Blue & Gold is our annual Cub Scout awards and recognition banquet.  The Court of Honor is the traditional Boy Scout awards and recognition banquet.

The uniform for the day is the full Class "A" uniform with neckerchief.  Scouts should wear shoes and not sneekers. If there are any uniform issues, i.e., missing uniform items, please inform me no later than Saturday 20 February.  We will attempt to resolve all uniform issues then.

Boy Scouts need to arrive no later than 1630 hrs (4:30 p.m.) or earlier.  Cub Scouts may arrive at 5:00 p.m.  All Scouts were given a form to complete of attendees to be turned in Saturday 20 February.  This banquet usually involves a meal at no cost.  Due to the large membership roster, we have limited the number of family members and Scouts to six per family.

All Scouts need to report the number of family members who will attend with them.  This is very important so that we know approximately how many people are attending to ensure we have enough food for everyone.

Families are encouraged to bring a dessert or beverage along with ice to share if they wish to contribute

Please note, Scouts will be recognized for awards earned to date.  The other opportunity to receive awards will be in June at the last meeting of the year and graduation.  For this banquet our primary purpose is to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Scouting in America.  On occassions due to administrative error all awards may not be processed in time to be awarded or there may be some oversight.  We ask for patience and understanding from all parents and Scouts in advance.

Yours in Scouting,
