Dear Parents,

The Men's Ministry & Fellowship of St. Thomas Church is the sponsoring organization of the Scouts at St. Thomas. Last year they contributed more than $1,000.00 to the Scout Program directed primarily to the Boy Scouts especially in the area of helping Scouts attend summer camp. Just this year they raised their dues from $20 to $30 per year so that $10 of the membership dues could be devoted just to Scouting. This Saturday 18 February they will have a Cabaret as part of their annual fundraiser. Proceeds from this event will go to the Scout program. I am urging all parents to consider attending or making a donation. I will have tickets on Saturday.

Hello Joel,

My name is Brian Bauer and I have the great pleasure of serving the Cradle of Liberty Council as your Cub Scout Quality Program Director. I wanted to write you a quick email to remind your group of the many great camping opportunities we have coming up in the summer of 2012. I hope that you will send this information to other leaders and parents in Pack 133.

*Check out our Camp Video here: www.youtube.com/colbsa. Do you recognize any of your scouts in these pictures?

*Resident Adventures Camp at Hart $50.00 deposit per PERSON are due March 1. Additional campers are only accepted if space is still available. Don't miss it!

*Weekend Adventures Camp at Hart FULL PAYMENT of $50.00 per person due May 1 ($65.00 after May 1). Information on dates here. These weekend programs will ONLY be available at Camp Hart, NOT Camp Garrison.

*For those in need, campership applications are now available and due March 1. Call the Camping Department: 484-654-9213, or email camping@colbsa.org for more information.

Thanks for reading this email. There are a handful of volunteers from the Camping Committee who are trying to get out and visit Cub Packs. One of them may be calling you in the next few weeks or months (at the number (215) 740-6701) to find ways where together we can deliver the promise of outdoor adventure to our Cub Scouts.

February is Black History Month and you can start off at the Liberty 360 Show in the PECO Theater, at the Historic Philadelphia Center. Bring history to life with free family fun just across from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall!

  • Stories for everyone - Once Upon A Nation Storyteller tells interactive, lesser-known stories about African Americans who helped shape America
  • Kids' silhouette crafts - Cut-paper profiles are one example of how Americans had their portraits made before the invention of photography. About the size of a baseball card, they show a person's face from a side view.  One of America's best known profile artists was Moses Williams, an enslaved African American
  • An appearance by Octavius Catto - Octavius Catto was a black educator, an intellectual, and a civil rights leader well ahead of his time.  How did Octavius help shape civil rights?  Would he ultimately pay for his activism?  Find out at Reflections of Black History at Liberty 360 / the Historic Philadelphia Center!
  • February 4 & 5; 2-5pm at the Historic Philadelphia Center, home of Liberty 360 in the PECO Theater
