Hello Cubs and Scouts, and Parents,

Our Scouting for Toys service project will involve collecting new and unused toys for the children of St. Barnabas Mission.  St. Barnabas is the homeless shelter for women and children located at 60th and Girard Streets.  Although we do not have a specific listing this year the collection is normally for boys and girls ranging in age from infant to teens.

We are asking each Scout and Cub to bring a toy this year to donate to St. Barnabas.  Please bring your toy to the year end holiday party to take place this Saturday 18 December.  We will take our donation to St. Barnabas directly after the holiday party.

We do not set a dollar limit on the gift, but the average toy is in the range of $10.00.  Feel free to substitute a gift card for a toy.  One example is to select a local store such as Target.

Additionally, we will solicit donations from the parishioners of St. Thomas.  This year we will ask them to bring their donation to the Christmas Eve service.  After the service I will take that delivery to St. Barnabas.

Please note that during the month of January we begin our ‘Gifts of the Magi’ service project where collect men’s clothing, toiletries, and personal items, for the residents of St. John’s Hospice.  St. John’s is a homeless

shelter for men located at 12th & Race Streets.

Thank you,

Yours in Scouting,
