Subject: Request for Temporary Leaders
Dear Parents,
I was informed this week by Ms. Stephanie Williamson our Den Leader that she was going into the hospital for some major surgery. Her surgery date was yesterday at the University of PA. I have not checked in on her just yet.
However, she informed me that as a result of needing time to recover she will be out for the rest of the year. I am anticipating that both she and Mr. Stanley will not be back until September or the new Scout year.
To complete this Scout year I have a plan. I am asking for three to four parents, minimum to step in to be temporary leaders. As temporary leaders, you will fulfill specific positions. For each position I would like to have a minimum of two parents per position to allow you to switch off from week to week.
I will train you and provide you weekly instructions on what to do for each meeting. You just need to do to attend all of the required training, approximately 6 to 8 hours, and commit to what weekends you can step in.
As temporary leaders you will not need to get a uniform and it will be just for this Scout year. The instructions I give you will allow you to follow a defined meeting plan, but you will have the latitude to come up with your own meeting plans per the theme or goal.
The training will be broken up into sessions. I will conduct some sessions on a Friday night and the other sessions on Saturday morning. Each session I will conduct twice if necessary if everybody who is coming cannot make a session. I have requested the training materials from Council and if possible, I would like to start training on 19 March Friday evening starting at 7:00-9:00 p.m.
The leadership positions are as follows;
Tiger Cub Den Leader
Wolf Den Leader
Bear Den Leader
If you are interested in being a temporary leader send me an e-mail and which position you would like to fulfill. For all other parents, I will be conducting training on the Scout/Parent/Pack Committee and the role of the committee. Thank you for your help.
Yours in Scouting,
