Hello,

We are running out of time and parents are not responding to the call.  However, there is still time to take advantage of some venues and do some great Popcorn selling. For example, hopefully the Phillies will win and bring another game home.  If we can get to a public street and find some crowds near the stadium and on the way to the game we could sell some of the 'open & eat stuff' like the Butter Toffee ect.

Every Sunday and sometimes on Saturday there is always a walk of some kind along the MLK Drive and they gather out near the old Memorial Hall now the Please Touch Museum.  Any festival event or where there a large crowd of people we have an opporunity.

I don't know what target opportunities may come up between now and the 30th, but think about it and see what you think.  Maybe some of us leaders can get together and take a few Scouts and see what we can do.

FROM: TROOP & PACK 133 POPCORN CHAIRPERSON
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As requested in the trailing e-mail, after 4 of 6 weekends of sales, dollar-wise, we are at the half-way point with approx $7,500 in total sales.  Our total at this point should be $10,000.  So, yes we have our work cut out.
Dedicating the weekend to sales will help, but we will need to sell approx $4,000 each weekend.  Keeping in mind the various methods of sales including TAKE ORDERS (individual sales efforts), SHOW & SELL (30th street station, post office, the Acme super market, and Sunday church sales), and SHOW & DELIVER (Area surrounding St Thomas church and the area surrounding Scout Headquarters).  The latter method has not yet occur due to no parental support for this sales method, albeit it has been proven to work.
With several weeks left, all are urged to commit time and make one final push for Take Order sales and Show and Deliver.  I am available all day Saturday to fill Take Orders.
I am posting below the schedule for this weekend starting on Friday with 30th Street Station sales at 3:30 pm until 7:00 pm.  Following the 30th Street sales, I will deliver scouts to St Thomas for the camp-in that evening, if parents wish for me to do so.  Please let me know if you would like your scout to have a ride to the Church that evening.
Please be mindful that we are still looking for patrols to report in accordance with their patrol's schedule.  Cub Scouts are scheduled for the Post Office on Saturday morning but are quite welcome to help out at 30th Street on Friday.  We need to cover all venues if we are going to meet our goal to sell $15,000 of product, and therefore will again request parents of scouts scheduled for Saturday Show and Deliver to show-up and help the scouts with door-to-door delivery.
The line-up for this weekend is as follows;
Friday, Oct, 22, 10      30th Street Station          3:30 to 7:00 pm                Cobras
Sat., Oct 23, 10           Post Office                      10:00 to 1:00 pm               Cub Scouts
                                      Acme Market                  11:00 am to 5:00 pm         Sabertooth Patrol
                                      Overbrook area              11:00 am to 5:00 pm         Just Do-It Patrol (Show and Deliver with parents)
Sun., Oct 24, 10          St Thomas Church and any other requests for a church Show and Sell set-up.
If there are enough parents and scouts, Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts, the neighborhood surrounding Boy Scout Headquarters is another area where sales can be expected to be good.
If there are any questions please contact me @ 215 / 801-8094.
Walt Livingston
Dear Scouts and Parents,
Mr. Livingston our Treasurer, and Chairperson of our Popcorn Sale will be sending out information regarding the status of our Popcorn Sale, to include sales total, etc.  Technically this is our last weekend for popcorn selling, however last night at the District Roundtable one of the Scout officials working with the District said he would speak with Council about moving our reconciliation day to after the 30th.
Reconciliation is where we settle up with our sale and turn in all popcorn we have not sold and rectify our bill versus the popcorn we did sell.  If reconciliation is put until after the 30th of this month that would give us another weekend opportunity for selling.  So far weather has cooperated and despite the weekend camping trip where we suspending selling, the extra weekend could help.
However, regardless of the time, it will not take the place of not having a parents come out to help us.  As we said, if parents could give us one to two hours for the sale, we could reach our goal in no time and move on to program activities and other fun things.
This weekend will be dedicated primarily for selling.  Mr. Livingston will put out a schedule, but we would like to do some show and deliver sales.  This is where we go through selected neighborhoods and the Scouts conduct door to door selling.  One target opportunity will be the neighborhood surrounding St. Thomas.  There is an eight to twelve block area that could be covered within a couple of hours.  We could use three teams of two parents and some Scouts each taking four blocks to cover.
One parent will need to drive a car carrying product and another parent out with the Scouts to help collect money.  The other neighborhood would be that surrounding Scout Headquarters at 22nd & Winters Street.  This community has been very supportive of Scouts and could render some very good sales.  To those of you who have done an extraordinary job already this Popcorn Sale and despite our final total have assured that we will continue to be the top selling unit in all of Triune District THANK YOU!!!
We still have time to reach our goal and prove to others and to ourselves that the only limitations we have are the ones we put on ourselves.
Subject: Final Popcorn Selling Weekend...
    Good morning all Active Scout Parent Supporters. This e-mail is to inform everyone about our deadline for turning in any un sold popcorn. The Triune district headquarters located at 22nd and Winter Street, has deadlined this years popcorn sale for Saturday October the 30. This shortens our anticipated days of selling, this also means that any unsold popcorn must be returned to headquarters or we have to pay for it out of our budget( not good). With that said, We need everyones participation this weekend with the neighborhood show and sell around the church. Any parents who can volunteer a few hours out of their busy day to help the troop will not only make their kids smile but it will also show the Boys that we take pride in what they are doing with their lives. This weekends focus is on Popcorn Selling for the program.
Popcorn selling is all we will be doing this weekend. ALSO. We only have a short window to settle any individual Orders that have not been filled. So lets hope for some good weather and lets get focused on our last POPCORN SELLING WEEKEND.
If I can get cub scouts and any boy scouts to be here for that sale, ?YES?.  My son has homecoming football Friday night and PSATs Saturday morning so he is neither camping, nor selling popcorn.
By copy to Joel and Mr. Brockman, if you can announce that there will be popcorn sales this Friday, even with one scout, I?ll be here.
Thanx Lori.
To:
Dear Scouts and Parents,
Thank you to all of the parents who have stepped forward and said they would contribute to the bake sale.  We could still use a few more commitments on baking goods and helping on Sunday at the coffee hour after services at St. Thomas.  All Scouts and parents will need to be there no later than 11:30 a.m. to set up and be prepared.
In addition to hosting coffee hour will also be conducting a show and sell at St. Thomas.  In addition to St. Thomas Mr. Livingston will be asking volunteers to help one of our Cub parents Ms. Christian Waters who has arranged a Show and Sell at her Church this Sunday.  We will be looking for some Cub parents and Cubs to help out with that this Sunday as well.  The time commitment is approximately an hour and a half.
This weekend will be a regular meeting with Cubs Scouts meeting at 1:00 p.m. and Webelos meeting at 3:00 p.m. Boy Scouts will meet at 1530 hrs (3:30 p.m.)  Class "A" uniform is the uniform for the day.
The normal Popcorn Selling schedule will continue.  The Cub Scouts will sell per the scheduled hours at the Bala Cynwyd Post Office and the Boy Scouts will see per the schedule for the Bala Cynwyd Shopping Center.  For more information please contact Mr. Walt Livingston, our Popcorn Kernel.  He may be reached at 215-801-8094.
While Mr. Livingston has put the word out, I can only echo how important and critical it is for every parent to decide to commit to one hour as a site supervisor.  If 23 parents commit to two hours that would be more than 45 hours which would translate into $9,000.00 worth of sales.  Considering the more than $4,200 Mr. Livingston has reported we have already earned that would easily get us to our goal.
I want to thank Mr. Livingston for his hard work and dedication as our Popcorn Leader and to thank those parents who have already come forward and made a big difference.  For fear of leaving out some same names, to those of you have turned in some extraordinary orders beyond the individual Scout commitment I can only say thank you.
Also, next weekend 15-17 October is the Triune District Camporee.  This is going to be a tremendous logistical challenge and we will need all the transportation assets we can find.  We will not have the van for usage that weekend so we are going to have to make alternate arrangements to transport our Scouts.  If you can help out, please let us know this Saturday.
On another note if you have not registered for the Scout year please do so.  It appears we may hit another record year for new memberships and we need to understand what our rosters look like for accurate planning.   As usual there is much to do and time is quickly passing by.  We ask for your patience and support as we continue to grow and develop our Scout program into the one of the best programs in the City.  We cannot do this if you are not excited about the program and what is in store for your Scout.
The possibilities are endless, but no one is going to make it possible for us, if we are not willing to make it possible for ourselves.  This will require work, commitment, and a pledge on your part on what you can do.  This is not to measure you against anyone else.  It is understandable that each of us have our burdens and our blessings and at times one may out weigh the other.  But search and find what you can do and measure yourself against the commitment you make.
For our Scouts they will have to decide, if they will be a good Scout troop or a Great Scout Troop. The difference is the commitment they will make to themselves and each other.  For our Cubs we have to start them off with the knowledge that expectations will be high and they can meet them.  We have a good Scout program, but we have the potential for a Great Scout Program.  The decision is up to us on where we want to go.
What you do this weekend will matter.  If you do nothing this weekend for the Scout program that will mean we will benefit from nothing.  If you do something we will benefit from that something. Something with something always adds up to something we gain.  Nothing adds no values and makes no contribution and actually takes away from us what you can contribute.  Therefore something is always better than nothing no matter how small.
Thank you,
Yours in Scouting,
Fwd: Popcorn Update
To:
Dear Scouts and Parents,
Hopefully all have been Taking Orders for popcorn at your place of work, place of worship, from friends, neighbors and family.  Patrol leaders will hear from Justin Brockman to encourage them to get their patrols to their assigned sales location starting with after school Show and Sell this Friday at 30th Street Station.  Cub parents are welcome to bring their cub scouts.  Everyone in Class A please.
The security exercises planned for this Friday at 30th Street will not hamper our ability to be there.  Station operations will continue as normal.
To date our total is over $4,200 which is more than 27% of our goal.  This is very impressive considering this is still the beginning of October and many of our Scouts have not reached their individual goals.
Take Orders
Also feel free to bring any order forms with payment you have to St Thomas at 3:30 pm every Saturday during the month of October.  I will exchange your payment with ordered product.  Again, the primary reward for selling popcorn this year is via gift cards from Wal-Mart and Amazon.  The gift cards increase in value with increased sales.  The more we sell the easier the scouts can coast this year.  Raising money is a big distraction from the scout program so, lets get it out of the way with abundance and early so we can focus on scout advancement!
Cub Scouts at the Post Office
We need Cub parents at the Post Office this Saturday at 10:00 a.m.  While Vic Morrow has been doing a great job with his son with help from a few other cub parents, participation there too has been too light.  I am soliciting cub parent help at the Post Office.  My phone number is below if you are able to attend starting at 10:00.  Your son will be credited with time applicable to total sales and his time there.
Show and Deliver
That method is all but a plan up to this point.  If we can get the assigned patrol members with parents at the church at 11:00 a.m. to help with delivery, it is the only way that method will happen.  Please support this troop effort.
As a further reminder, there will be very few sales during the weekend of Oct 16, so lets have a big scout, cub and parent turn out this Saturday to Sell, Sell, Sell – please !!!
If you have any questions please contact me.  If you need additional forms please ask.  We have plenty in the scout office.
Fwd: Bake sale and potential popcorn sale
    Good evening Active Parent Scout Suppoters. As we all know October kicks off our one month fund raiser that fuels our troops program for the remainder of the year. We do this so the rest of the year we can focus our program on Scouting activities and advancement opportunities for the Kids. I know this may be time restricting but it is effective. In the past, we have done Bake Sales as one method of raising money and it has been effective as well. Last Year we made over $250 at St.Thomas hosting the coffee hour and with everyones participation again there is no reason we cannot exceed last years goal.
I know this may seem last minute to ask for participation but if anyone would like to bring in some homemade cakes, muffins,croussants, cookies, pies, etc... that would be greatly appreciated. This years coffe hour will be October 10 at 12:00 noon at the church. Scouts must be in CLASS A uniform as is the tradition. Any questions feel free to contact me Victor Morrow via e-mail or phone at 215-908-9046 cell.
Dear Scouts and Parents,
Next Sunday 10 October Boy Scout and Cub Scout Pack 133 will host coffee hour for the parishioners of St. Thomas after services.  As one of the guilds and organizations of St. Thomas providing refreshments after Church is one way to give back to the members of St. Thomas.
This will be another opportunity for us to conduct a show and sell for our Popcorn Sale.  Also, in the past, this has been a perfect opportunity to hold a bake sale to raise some additional funds.  This will require a chairperson or small committee to call this week and get some parent volunteers to bake some goods to include coming to St. Thomas to help conduct the sale.
The coffee hour will be conducted from 12:00 noon to 1:15 p.m.  If you cannot participate in the bake sale but can bake some goods that would be appreciated.  Please do not purchase items for the bake sale, e.g., cakes, cookies, etc..  They normally do not do well. Items like home made pies, bake rolls, etc. do very well even homemade cookies.   You can contribute by purchasing a fruit, cheese, or vegetable tray as part of our snacks for the coffee hour.
We are committed to the coffee hour, however I will need to know by Wednesday whether we have enough parents who are interested.  In addition to having parents bake some goods, we need some parents to organize and help conduct the sale.
I have to know by Wednesday, because that is the deadline to get things into the Church bulletin for Sunday.  If we do not have enough parents volunteering we will just conduct the coffee hour and popcorn sales.
Scouts who would like to participate in the Popcorn sale may do so by showing up in Class “A” uniform.  As all other show and sells, Scouts will get credit for the time they participate.
For those parents interested in conducting a bake sale or helping to organize it, send me your name and I will turn it over to Mr. Victor Morrow, President Participants.  Mr. Morrow will help in consolidating the list of parent volunteers.
Thank you,
Yours in Scouting,
Subject: Take Orders Popcorn Sale
Dear Scouts and Parents
Hopefully all have been Taking Orders for popcorn at your place of work, place of worship, from friends neighbors and family.  Please feel free to bring any order forms with payment you have to St Thomas at 3:30 pm every Saturday during the month of October.  Mr. Livingston will exchange your payment with ordered product.
As a reminder the primary reward for selling popcorn this year is via gift cards from Wal-Mart and Amazon.  The cards increase in value with increased sales.  The more we sell the easier the scouts can coast this year.  Raising money is a big distraction from the program so, lets get it out of the way with abundance and early in the season so we can focus on scout advancement!
If you need additional forms please ask.  We have plenty in the scout office.
