Dear Scouts and Parents,

Please make note there will be no regular Saturday meeting due to the Bowling Party scheduled for 1700-1900 hrs (5:00-7:00 p.m.) at the Wynnewood Lanes.  Uniform for the day is Class "B", Scout Class "B" shirt, either Troop 133 T-shirt or T133 Tan Collar shirt (not regular Scout shirt).  There are still plenty of tickets for purchase.

See Ms. Sandra Anderson's e-mail regarding transportation.

For all Parents, there will be a Scout Committee meeting for Scout Committees and all interested parents.  The Scout Committee meeting will start promptly at 3:00 p.m. at St. Thomas. This is not a required Parents Meeting, but a meeting of those who have taken a place on the Scout Committee.  However, parents may attend if they choose.

March is Medical Forms Month.  If you have not scheduled your Scout's physical do so now!  Please do not delay.  Remember you need to use the new 2012 Revised medical form, that is bi-lingual.  Please be sure to read the medical forms instruction sheet in order to complete the medical form.

If you have not made a commitment for Summer Camp for your Scout please do so this weekend.  You must complete the Summer Camp Commitment Form and submit that with $50.00 to one of the Treasurers.

Please note last week your Scout if he attended meeting went through some initial safety training.  All interested Scouts who have not done so can begin work on the Safety, Fire Safety, Traffic Safety and Crime Prevention merit badges.  Scouts interested in completing the Safety merit badge was issued a merit badge worksheet.  All worksheets can be found on the internet at www.meritbadge.com or simply google, Safety Merit Badge worksheet.

Parents are encouraged to help their Scouts with completing requirements.  One of the first requirements is clipping newspaper articles about items related to safety or crime incidents to highlight the dangers of both accidents and crimes.  Additionally, there is a home safety inspection sheet.  Please help your Scout complete that requirement.  To help him keep track of this merit badge and others, we are encouraging all of our Scouts to get a three binder note book and three hole punch to keep all his worksheets in one binder.  Once the worksheet is complete the Scout can then have me review it and then have it reviewed by a merit badge counselor.  The merit badge counselor will sign off on a 'blue card' signifying that all merit badge requirements have been completed.  The Scout will get the 'blue card' from me to give to the merit badge counselor.  The counselor will sign off on the card and give it back to the Scout to return to me.

We are fortunate that Cub Leader, Major Anthony Gray, U.S. Army is our registered counselor for all of the safety related merit badges.  We could not ask for a more qualified individual than someone such as him with his real world experience as an Army Officer in the Military Police Corps to include during more than one combat tour of duty.

Please take note that these merit badges are not only part of our advancement program but deal with real life situations in an effort to keep you and your Scout safe. We ask that you get involved in helping your Scout.  Thank you.

Yours in Scouting,
